“Duffy’s” opened in January 2007 in center of Malecon, Esperanza. The concept, design and decor was all the work of famed restaurateur Hugh Duffy. Renovation began early October 2006 and was completed late January 2007. The opportunity arose from a failed and run over restaurant and property on brink of foreclosure. Duffy, 86 years old at the time, could not let opportunity pass to squeeze into the action of “the strip.” With his youngest son Mike by his side, he completely leveled all existing structure and started from scratch. Focusing on the bar and the layout of his famous booths, the Duffy’s put together another one for the record books.

The relaxed waterfront ambiance and friendly atmosphere full of locals is often described as the “Cheers” of Vieques. Some vacationers are so comfortable the end up spending all here time at the bar ordering specialty drinks. Duffy’s offers everything from seafood delights, great burgers to vegetarian cuisine an always fresh special board, more than eight salad varieties and into a dinner special menu including the freshest seafood and local ingredients.
